Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about ordering Irish number plates.
Yes. All road-legal plates we supply comply with the Road Traffic (Licensing of Vehicles) Regulations and include the mandatory Euroband at no extra charge. If a plate we supply causes an NCT failure due to our error, we will replace it free.
No documentation is required to order from us online. You simply enter your registration number. For legal reasons, plates must be ordered for the registration you legally hold. Ordering a plate for a registration you do not own is illegal.
The Euroband is the blue band on the left side of Irish plates, showing the EU stars and IRL. It is legally required on all Irish plates registered after 1991. We include it on every road-legal plate at no extra charge — unlike some competitors who charge €2–3 extra for it.
No. Unlike the UK, yellow rear plates are not permitted in Ireland. Both front and rear Irish plates must have a white reflective background with black characters.
Plates are made and dispatched within 48 hours (usually same day if ordered before 2pm). An Post standard delivery takes 1–3 working days. Express tracked next-day delivery is available for €4.99.
Yes. When building your plate in our configurator, you can select front only, rear only, or both. Ordering both plates qualifies for a 10% pair discount.
3D plates have characters raised with a gel coating (like a thick varnish). 4D plates use laser-cut acrylic pieces bonded to the plate — a physically deeper, more premium look. Both are NCT-compliant.
Yes. In our plate builder, simply skip the county badge step or select "No county badge". The plate will show only the Euroband on the left and your registration in the centre.
ZV plates (black background, silver characters) are for vehicles 30 or more years old that have been taken off standard registration. The owner applies to the RSA for ZV historic vehicle registration. The plate format uses ZV in place of the normal county code.
