4D acrylic number plates — the premium finish

4D plates use laser-cut acrylic characters that are bonded to the plate surface. Unlike 3D gel plates, the characters are physically separate acrylic pieces, giving a deeper, more dramatic raised effect. These are the most premium plate finish available in Ireland.

Are 4D plates road-legal in Ireland?

Yes — provided the plate meets all other legal requirements. The raised acrylic characters must not impair readability and the plate must still conform to the correct dimensions, font and reflective requirements.
